Mattis takes command of CENTCOM Aug. 11

MACDILL AFB, Fla. (Aug. 10, 2010) – Marine Gen. James N. Mattis is scheduled to assume command of U.S. Central Command from Acting Commander Lt. Gen. John R. Allen here at 6 p.m., Aug. 11.
MANAMA, Bahrain – At approximately 5 a.m. local time, Sept. 9, 24 U.S. Marines boarded and seized control of Antigua-Barbuda-flagged, German–owned vessel M/V Magellan Star from pirates who attacked and boarded the vessel early Sept 8.
MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2010) — A US\UK military investigation into the circumstances of the 8 October 2010 death of Ms. Linda Norgrove is complete. Ms. Norgrove, a UK citizen and aid worker, was kidnapped 26 September by Taliban insurgents in Kunar province, Afghanistan.
