Iraqi Police Pursue AQI Network, Arrest 1

IraqMapBAGHDAD – The 3rd Emergency Response Unit arrested a suspected terrorist Thursday during a joint security operation targeting a suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) member in a rural area approximately 56 km northeast of Baghdad.

Acting upon a warrant issued by an Iraqi court, Iraqi Police and U.S. advisors searched several buildings for a suspected AQI member who has been involved in planning deadly vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks in the Mosul and Bayji areas.

After conducting preliminary questioning and assessing the evidence at the scene, Iraqi Police arrested a suspected criminal associate of the warranted AQI member.
